GOALS

Highlight Female Athlete Voices

Tell an authentic story

Mental Health Advocacy

Mental health is one of most pressing issues affecting college students and something we don’t believe is talked about holistically on university campuses. Crafting this video created an outlet to advocate for a topic I’m highly passionate about. We determined that telling the story of pressure intensive environment student athletes face through the lens of a female athlete shed light on another intersecting narrative of the underrepresentation of female athletes in the media. This in combination with the mental health advocacy narrative paints a captivating and authentic story.

INCORPORATING ACTION B-ROLL

There is no way to encapsulate what a Big Ten sporting event is truly like without feeling the energy in the stadium. Screaming fans, loud music, and mixed emotions are the epitome of college sports at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Allowing our audience to feel this energy through the b-roll chosen for this short-film was key to telling our story in an authentic way. Clips of expressive fans in the student section, players on the field, and the wide-shots of a packed stadium set a holistic scene, capturing the essence of being a student athlete.

THE CONVERSATION TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH STARTS WITH YOU.
